Gordie MacKeeman & His Rhythm Boys will be visiting The Met on Thursday 4 February to serve up old-time roots music with an energy level that yanks you out of your seat by the collar.
Launching into song, guided by the sharp cuts of his fiddle and his famous crazy leg shakes and twists Gordie Mackeeman is accompanied by his Rhythm Boys who deliver surefooted roots instrumentation. A joyful spectacle that divides the line between the band and the audience, Gordie MacKeeman and his Rhythm Boys are a complete entertainment package.
‘Gordie and the Boys are great players, sharp songwriters, invigorating company…..not to mention the nifty dancing. Frankly, what’s not to like?’
Mark Radcliffe, The Folk Show, BBC Radio 2, UK
Within months of forming the Rhythm Boys and releasing their self-titled debut album Gordie and the band were nominated for and won a number of awards, including the East Coast Music Award for best Roots Traditional Group Recording for their last album ‘Pickin’ ‘n’ Clickin’. They have also toured all over the world taking their old-time roots music to Australia, Belgium, USA, Canada, Malaysia and the UK many times. Their new album ‘Laugh, Sing and Dance’ was released in 2015.
‘It is their live shows which have cemented their reputation as one of the most dynamic and engaging acts to come out of the East Coast in the past few years.’ Beat Magazine
