With a mixture of breathtaking illusions and trickery, an original musical score and a libretto from the acclaimed poet Ian McMillan, this new production, from award winning Proper Job Theatre, promises to live long in the memory.
It’s one hour before dawn
On the blood dark sea the ship is barely moving
There’s a sail as torn as a shattered shirt
Something is aboard the ship…
Bram Stoker’s Dracula describes how the Demeter leaves Varna, Transylvania with a full crew and arrives in Whitby empty except for the Captain, dead, strapped to the wheel and a mysterious cargo of wooden boxes. Nosferatu unravels the dark and chilling tale of these sailors in the last hour before the sun rises.
This production combines the beautiful poetry of Ian McMillan with the excitement and tension created by Bram Stoker. Proper Job Theatre have used their trade mark visual and physical interpretation of the text to create a gripping piece. The music, composed specifically for the piece and executed to an exceptional standard, helps to make this collaboration a production not to be missed.
