On Saturday 20 June talented performers from Bury Rock Choir performed at The Met to raise money for the refurbishment project A Better Met. The evening was a great success with Rock Choir raising over £1000.
Rock Choir performed their own unique arrangements of well-known pop, rock and chart hits including Stevie Wonder’s ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ and summer anthems including ‘Budapest’ by George Ezra and Clean Bandit’s ‘Rather Be’. Guest soloists on the evening were Kim Connor and Tom Thorley.
The Met has secured funding to refurbish its building on Market Street and work is expected to start on site in January 2016. The project, called A Better Met, aims to repair, remodel and revitalize The Met for its audiences. The building work due to take place will increase audience capacity and update facilities, increasing audience enjoyment whilst also offering quality performances at accessible prices.
‘We are all so very proud to be able to call The Met our home and feel privileged to have been able to help raise funds towards building A Better Met. As we rehearse there on a weekly basis, we are able to appreciate all the hard work that goes on to create a wonderful environment that supports not only international artists, but local community groups like ourselves.’ Maxine Cherrie (Bury Rock Choir Leader)
