Celtic Duo Ross Ainslie and Jarlath Henderson come to The Met

On Saturday 9 May Ross Ainslie and Jarlath Henderson bring their Celtic sound to The Met. BBC Radio 2 Folk award nominee Ross Ainslie and BBC Young Musician Award winner Jarlath Henderson have fast become one of the most enigmatic duos to emerge from Scotland.

These young talents have created a sound that is bursting with energy. (Celtic Music Radio)

Ross and Jarlath have spent years writing and performing as a duo since they first met at the William Kenendy Piping Festival in 2003. Since then they have released two albums, played hundreds of shows and been nominated for Best Duo at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

They released their first album, Partners in Crime, a groundbreaking fusion of Border and Uillean pipes, in 2008 to major critical acclaim. After a four year break they rejoined forces to release their second album Air-Fix which, with a fusion of pipes and whistles, pushes the boundaries of performance using a vibrant mix of new and original compositions, along with traditional tunes.

‘[a] demonstration of the virtuosity and infectious energy of these two talented musicians.’ Bright Young Folk
