On Wednesday 25 – Saturday 28 March PADOS (Prestwich Amateur Dramatics and Operatic Society) bring their latest production Ghost: The Musical to The Met, Bury.
Adapted from the hit film, Ghost: The Musical follows young couple Sam and Molly, whose connection takes a shocking turn after Sam’s untimely death. Trapped between two worlds, Sam refuses to leave Molly when he learns she is in grave danger. Desperate to communicate with her, he turns to a storefront psychic who helps him protect Molly and avenge his death.
‘I’ve been performing with PADOS for three years, I fell in love with the music and storyline of Ghost when I saw it’s premier in Manchester’ Courtney Fannon, 17 – Molly
Director Tim Platt has appeared on stage and screen and is best known for his role as Leonard Pitt on BBC drama Life on Mars. He started to direct for PADOS in 2010 and Ghost will be his 6th show with the youth group. Choreographer Helen Wilkinson started out as a member of the youth group herself before going on to choreograph shows professionally, she took over as Principal of the youth group 7 years ago.
Ghost presents the biggest technical challenge yet for the group and in order to create the visual effects needed for a successful show they contacted the original musical’s illusionist. He provided them with advice and support on how to create the illusions such as walking through walls.
After watching the film and hearing the soundtrack to Ghost I was really excited to play Carl, he’s such a great character’ George Platt, 17 – Carl
The company are all between the ages of 12-21. Auditions for the production took place in November and since then the cast have been in rehearsal for the show.
Their last production, Phantom of the Opera, won a number of youth and amateur dramatics awards including a NODA Award for Best Actor in a Musical and an ACT Award for Most Original Youth Production Concept.
