Renowned theatrical innovators Gonzo Moose come to The Met on Tuesday 11 November at 8pm with the hilariously bonkers What The Dickens? The Misadventures of Charles Dickens.
Young Charles Dickens is a rookie reporter on The Morning Chronicle. Whilst investigating the foggy slums of Ye Olde London Towne, he accidently stumbles on a story that could make his reputation. On this adventure of a lifetime expect a world of pockmarked pickpockets, cobwebby convicts, teeming slums, empty marshes, dark secrets, convoluted plots and lots and lots of fog.
This inventive and gripping comedy features just three actors playing over 20 roles in 80 minutes of fast-paced fun and thrilling action. Brimming with unfeasibly quick costume changes and stupidly surreal characters the show features as many types of laugh as possible – slapstick for the kids, knowing pastiche for the adults, and eccentricity that will appeal to all.
“What the Dickens is a hoot from start to finish, and will no doubt leave many audience members asking, “Please sir, can I have some more?”” – The Stage
Since it’s creation in 2000, Gonzo Moose have been forging their own unique brand of theatre that explosively blends visual comedy, dramatic storytelling and physical theatre. The team delight in spoofing genres, mashing up traditional tales and generally being silly.
Tickets to see What The Dickens are £10, or £6 for concessions. For more information or to book tickets phone Box Office on 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz.
