Vinny Peculiar plays The Met for Light Night

“Undersung national treasure” (UNCUT) Vinny Peculiar performs at The Met in Bury as part of Bury Light Night on Friday 10 October at 8pm.

Salford based singer-songwriter and poet Vinny Peculiar (aka Alan Wilkes) has released nine albums of ‘outsider pop’ music to great critical acclaim and collaborated with the likes of Bill Drummond (KLF) and Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music) artistically and musically with ex members of The Smiths, Oasis, Aztec Camera and The Fall.

His live solo shows are song and poem based where witty words and self-deprecating monologues prevail, often compared to Jarvis Cocker, John Cooper Clarke and EELS.

Crashing poppily through Vinny’s world of nostalgia and insight every song stuffed to the gills with melody and eccentricity, clever, funny and wonderfully weird” – R2 Rock’n’Reel magazine

Vinny has toured Europe and the US, opening for the likes of British Sea Power, Edwyn Collins and Luke Haines and is a former compere on the Glastonbury Acoustic Stage. His latest album, The Root Mull Affect was released this March to rave reviews.

This event falls alongside Bury Light Night, an annual event which brings Bury town centre to life with installations, illuminations and activities. Tickets to see Vinny Peculiar at The Met are £10. For more information or to book phone Box Office on 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz.
