WWI Concerts at the Front Story comes to Bury

On Saturday 4 October Mikron Theatre Company come to The Met in Bury with the topical story of Troupers at 1pm.

.

It’s 1914. British entertainment is down on its uppers and actor-manager Lena Ashwell (OBE) has a theatre but no audience. She assembles a motley bunch of players and books a tour with a difference – performing in the muddy, blood fields of France. In a little-told story of the Great War, Troupers brings to life the amazingly audacious Concerts At The Front – a hitherto unsung war effort that is full of guts, gusto and greasepaint.

Founded in 1972, Mikron is the UKs most prolific small scale theatre company, touring on their narrowboat, Tyseley, in the summer and by road in the autumn, to every conceivable type of venue. Troupers was written by Maeve Larkin and comes to The Met presented by Bury Members Group of The Co-operative.

Tickets to see Troupers are £10, or £8 for concessions. For more information or to book phone Box Office on 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz
