Following a critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe and a hugely successful 2013/14 tour, award winning master of storytelling and legendary stand-up Sean Hughes’ brilliant new show, Penguins, comes to The Met in Bury on Wednesday 15 October at 8pm.
Sean Hughes is at his honest and hilarious best in this poignant and moving theatrical comedy show – which was named Best Comedy Show at the Herald Angels Awards 2013. Packed full of surprises, hidden twists and recurring themes, Sean takes us back to his upbringing; exploring the utter awkwardness of teenage life, weaving in his family, his school days, the business of friendship and tying it all in to the present.
“At his funniest and most profound” – The Sunday Herald
“For quick laughs look elsewhere, but for something that leaves more of an impression. Hughes is your man” – Chortle
Sean Hughes has performed all over the world and, as well as being the youngest ever winner of the coveted Perrier Award, he has also won a Fringe First for his short plays, Dehydrated and Travellin’ Light and a Herald Angel for Penguins. Despite a prolonged absence from the comedy arena, he was recently voted No. 40 in Channel 4?s ‘World’s 100 Greatest Comedians’ poll.
Tickets to see Sean Hughes at The Met are £15. For more information or to book phone Box Office on 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz.
