Unique musical courses for kids this summer at The Met

The Met in Bury is hosting two unique courses for young people over the summer months; Introduction to Sound Recording for ages 14-16 and You Can Ukulele for ages 8-14.

.

Running on Monday 28 July and Monday 4 August, Introduction to Sound Recording gives budding producers aged between 14 and 16 the opportunity to learn their way around a professional recording facility at Edwin Street Studios, which is situated at the back of The Met. Taught by The Met’s Recording Studio Manager, Phil Bulleyment, these one-day courses run from 10am-4pm and provide a great introduction to working with studio equipment, different recording techniques, overdubbing and basic mixing.

On Wednesday 30 July and Wednesday 6 August, Paul Davies (AKA UkePunk) comes to The Met teaching children aged between 8 and 14 years the ukulele. A brilliantly rewarding instrument to play, the ukulele is one of the easiest instruments to learn and children will be strumming along to a simple song in no time. These two sessions run from 10.30am – 12.30pm. No previous musical experience is needed and all ukuleles are provided.

Introduction to Sound Recording is priced at £20 per day and You Can Ukulele is priced at £5 per session. For more information or to book phone Box Office on 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz
