Bury Contemporary and Urban Dance groups now open for New Members

Bury Youth Dance Company and The Met Crew break-dance group are recruiting for new members aged 10 -17 to join weekly classes at The Met leading towards a public performance in September.

.

Bury Youth Dance Company predominately practise and learn Contemporary Dance and enjoy finding alternative ways and places to perform, from the Quays Theatre stage at The Lowry to empty units in shopping centres.  BYDC has been running since 2009 and is steadily gaining a reputation for training young people to become professional dancers. Past members have gone on to study dance at university and work as professional dancers.

The Met Crew is a break-dance group that learn and practise stunts and moves then choreograph them into a slick street routine of urban dance and breakin’. The Crew has been running since 2012 and has already performed at Urban Moves and Signatures.

The two classes are lead by professional dancer, choreographer and dance tutor Clare Fildes, who has previously worked with the BBC, Liam Steel of DV8, Toni and Guy, Shampoo Boy Japan and Mr Scruff.

BYDC and The Met Crew meet at The Met in Bury town centre on Tuesday evenings at 5pm-5.45pm for The Met Crew and 5.45pm–7.15pm for BYDC. Both groups are priced at £2.50 per week (payable on arrival) and are open to all levels, from complete beginners to practised dance enthusiasts. For further information on either of these groups, or any workshops at The Met contact Box Office on 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz/workshops.
