Master guitarist Woody Mann returns to The Met on Thursday 29 May at 8pm.
Woody Mann received his first musical lessons in the living room of the now legendary blues, gospel and ragtime guitarist Reverend Gary Davis. He then went on to study classical music at New York’s celebrated Julliard School, receive training in improvisation from jazz pianist Lennie Tristano and record with Son House, Bukka White and fingerstyle wizard John Fahey. Combining all these elements, he created a sound all of his own.
“Mann has absorbed so many guitar styles that he can change moods on a dime, weaving lyrical single string lines and chord harmonies that can take his tunes across the musical divides between genres” – Acoustic Guitar Magazine
An outstanding singer-songwriter who plays with passion and an easy, laid-back style, Woody has played at the Great Britain International Guitar Festival for eleven consecutive years, performed in over 15 countries and recorded nine albums. He has also developed a reputation as a master guitar teacher, with previous students including Paul Simon (Simon and Garfunkel).
Tickets to see Woody Mann performing live at The Met are £12, or £10 for concessions. For more information or to book tickets phone 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz.
