World-renowned Irish Musician John Doyle comes to Bury

Grammy nominated Irish multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter John Doyle comes to The Met on Wednesday 4 June at 8pm.

John Doyle is world renowned for his work as founding member of groundbreaking Irish/American band Solas; in partnerships with musicians including Andy Irvine, Bruce Molesky, Kate Rusby, Mike McGoldrick, John McCusker and Heidi Talbot, and for his exciting yearly contributions to Transatlantic Sessions. He has been lauded with every accolade imaginable in Irish music, including performing for President Obama at the annual St Patrick’s Day luncheon in Washington in 2009.

Few singer songwriters are as adept as John Doyle when it comes to developing the inveterate themes of Irish Traditional music. Doyle takes these themes; war, oppression, love and emigration, and sets compelling narratives to engaging arrangements.” – Folk Music UK

John Doyle is not only a fine singer but more importantly, an imaginative and original songwriter who really grabs audiences with his ability to tell a story through song. Coupled with his high standing as one of the best acoustic guitarists around, an evening with John makes for a memorable evening’s music.

Tickets to see John Doyle are £10. For more information or to book tickets phone 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz.
