A Cornishman and an Irishman walk onto a train. The events that followed took the music world by storm

Acclaimed Irish/Cornish duo Winter Mountain come to The Met on Saturday 19 April at 8pm.

.

Blending melodic folk songs and heartfelt lyrics, Winter Mountain create sixties-style harmony pop reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkel or Crosby, Still and Nash. The duo share songwriting duties, with their individual styles, like their voices, juxtaposing yet complimenting each other.

Cornishman Joe Francis and Irishman Marty Smyth first met on a train travelling across America from Chicago to Memphis in 2008. The conversation that followed revealed a mutual love for vocal harmony, the honesty of live performance and the sounds of the sixties. During that journey Winter Mountain was born.

Winter Mountain make them like they used to, and three cheers for that!” – Maverick Magazine

Winter Mountain have since supported Cara Dillon, Sara Watkins and Seth Lakeman on tour, performed at venues and festivals across the UK and Irleand (including Bury’s own Ramsbottom Festival) and opened for artists including Grammy winner Patty Griffin, Benny Gallagher and country superstar Leann Rimes.

A great gig, beautiful songs. You really must see them” – Janice Long, Radio 2

Tickets to see the performance are £10. For more information or to book phone 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz
