A double-bill of fresh folk talent with 4Square and David Gibb & Elly Lucas

The Met presents a double-bill of bright young folk with 4Square and David Gibb & Elly Lucas performing on Friday 16 May at 8pm.

.

Manchester’s ferocious folk foursome 4Square present energetic instrumentals on fiddle, keys, banjo and percussion; mellow and melancholic three part-harmonies and spectacular clog dancing. Conceived in a freezing farmhouse on the outskirts of Rochdale in 2006, the band have now played a coveted spot at Fairport’s Cropredy Convention and appeared at festivals in the UK, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Corfu.

David Gibb & Elly Lucas are an exciting young folk duo from Derbyshire playing a mixture of original and traditional music. The duo’s career was kickstarted with a BBC Young Folk Award nomination in 2011. In the three short years that followed they’ve released two critically acclaimed albums, been endorsed by British shoe manufacturer Gola and received extensive airplay from Mark Radcliffe and Bob Harris on BBC Radio.
