Tom McConville, the folk star’s folk star, comes to The Met with his band on Saturday 22 March at 8pm.
Regarded by Seth Lakeman as his biggest influence and with a fan base that includes Kate Rusby, BBC Radio 2 Musician of the Year (2009) Tom McConville is one of the leading fiddle players of our time. His live performances combine a rollercoaster of musical delights from fast, rhythmic dance tunes, through to beautiful slow airs, all presented with his inimitable sense of humour and style.
“One of the greatest violinists I’ve ever heard and by far the biggest influence in my music – A true master” – Seth Lakeman
Tom’s band also features; Shona Kipling, one of the finest accordion players in the country, David Newey’s “incredible, unique guitar playing” and Phil Murray – the man Mike Harding called “the best acoustic bass player in Britain”. While the band has a backbone in traditional music, their style involves country, jazz, blues and rock and roll, virtuoso playing and sheer enjoyment.
