The Met receives support to promote emerging talent across the North West

The Met has been granted Arts Council England Strategic Touring funding to lead a new consortium of venues in the North West supporting emerging artists.

Smaller Rooms Touring will be a collaborative project between The Met and Ramsbottom Festival in Bury, Square Chapel in Halifax, Citadel in St Helens, The Hothouse in Morecambe and new venue Unity Hall in Wakefield.

Arts Council England’s Strategic Touring Programme encourages organisations to work together so that more people across England experience and are inspired by high quality art, particularly in places which rely primarily on touring.

The project will promote artists over an initial three-year period, showcasing their music at regional festivals then following with a Northern venue tour. Alongside promoting new music this will add to the development of Ramsbottom Festival and help to connect festival-goers to regular arts provision in their area.

Smaller Rooms Touring will begin promoting in the 2014 festival season. For any further information please phone The Met on 0161 761 2216.
