Kathryn Williams presents Crown Electric

Mercury Music Prize nominee Kathryn Williams comes to The Met with her tenth album, Crown Electric, on Friday 4 April at 8pm.

Kathryn Williams has attracted great praise for her beguiling contemporary folk music. With a still, pretty voice and pastoral pop melodies her music is crafty, alternative, relaxing and sometimes just a little bit rude. Her second album, Little Black Numbers, was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2000. More recently, Kathryn has been nominated for Performing Artist of the Year at The Journal’s Culture Awards.

Magnificent and melancholic” – Metro on Crown Electric

Kathryn first made a name for herself in 1999 when she produced her debut album on a budget of £80. She has since released nine more albums and worked with the likes of John Matryn, Thea Gilmore, Tobias Froberg and Ted Barnes. Latest album, Crown Electric, is named for the company that employed Elvis Presley before he recorded his first session at Sun Studios.

Tickets are £12, or £10 for concessions. For more information or to book please phone 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz.
