Chris Pureka’s Heartfelt Songs from Across the Pond

American singer songwriter Chris Pureka comes to The Met with her first European release, How I Learned to See in the Dark, on Thursday 20 March at 8pm.

Armed with a sharp eye for details the emotional prowess to really tug on your heart strings, Chris Pureka has been creating folky sorrowful songs of longing, loss and hope for over a decade.

Her tunes have the grave Appalachian flavor of Neil Young and Gillian Welch; her guitar playing is subdued but quietly virtuosic. And her voice can be a desolate whisper or a bitter accusation.” – New York Times

Throughout her career, Chris has prized autonomy over ease and she has released three albums independently. How I learned to See in the Dark is her third album to date, and the first to be released in Europe.

Tickets to see the performance are £10, or £8 for concessions. For more information or to book go online at www.themet.biz or phone Ticket Office on 0161 761 2216.
