Musicians from both sides of the Baltic Sea combine in Baltic Crossing

Baltic Crossing, the combination of five award-winning young traditional musicians from across Europe, come to The Met on Thursday 17 April at 8pm.

.

Featuring Ian Stephenson (Kan), Andy May (Jez Lowe and The Bad Pennies), Esko Jarvela (Frigg), Antti Jarvela (Frigg) and Kristian Bugge (Habadekuk), Baltic Crossing present fiery Scandinavian fiddles, bubbling Northumbrian pipes and a driving guitar and double bass rhythm section.

The band’s strong affinity for old dance music and respect for each others’ traditions brings a new youthful energy to the folk music of Europe, creating a lively blend of modern folk with a Scandinavian/Celtic feel. With the addition of their respective dynamic stage presence and anecdotes from the international music scene, their gigs are a foot-stomping and fun night out.

Baltic Crossing will be supported at The Met by Karl Culley, an alt-folk acoustic fingerstyle guitarist and singer-songwriter.

Tickets to see the performance are £12. For more information or to book phone 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz
