BBC Children In Need fund new drama sessions in Bury for children with disabilities.

The Met in Bury has been granted Children In Need funding to offer new arts and drama workshops for people aged 9-13 years suffering from mental and physical disabilities.

.

Aiming High Junior sessions will include physical activities and drama games intended to create a safe place for children to express themselves, to encourage them to become more independent and to improve life skills such as team working, communication skills and confidence building. The sessions also act as a safe environment for socialising and provide respite for parents and carers.

These new workshops will run alongside pre-existing Aiming High Senior sessions for young people aged 14+ years funded by Bury Council Children’s Disability Team.  A free taster workshop for both age groups will run at The Met during Half Term on Tuesday 18 February, with Juniors at 10am – 12noon and Seniors at 1pm – 3.30pm.

Following the taster workshop weekly sessions for Aiming High Juniors will commence on Saturday 8th March from 10am – 11.30am for £3 per week. Aiming High Senior sessions run each Saturday at 11.30am – 1.30pm priced at £4 per week.

Based in the centre of Bury, The Met has extensive experience delivering workshops for all ages and abilities in drama, dance and music. For any further information on Aiming High please contact The Met on 0161 761 2216.
