The UK’s finest banjo player Dan Walsh comes to The Met with his trio on Friday 7 March at 8pm.
Dan Walsh plays the banjo with a unique and eclectic style taking in folk, funk, bluegrass, jazz, rock and even Arabic.
“Truly amazing banjo wizardry” – Simon Mayo, BBC
Dan uses the clawhammer technique, which can cover lead, percussion and chords at once. Alongside making music and touring, he teaches banjo both in person and over Skype.
“He is a musical chameleon in his ability to morph styles. What is undeniable is that he is a highly skilled banjo and guitar player.” – Bright Young Folk
After three years of touring as one half of BBC Folk Award nominated duo Walsh and Pound, Dan is stepping out on his own. Dan’s 2012 solo album The Same But Different follows on from the critically acclaimed Walsh and Pound album and Dan’s solo debut, Tomorrow’s Still To Come.
Tickets to see the performance are £10. For more information or to book phone Ticket Office on 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz
