Cult English singer-songwriter Boo Hewerdine and American guitar wizard Brooks Williams return to The Met as State of the Union on Thursday 30 January at 8pm.
With hook-laden songs, fiery and emotional guitar playing and soulful vocals, State of the Union tap into a multitude of influences. Boo Hewerdine is both a solo singer-songwriter and the lead singer of indie group, The Bible. Brooks Williams is a slide guitarist from Georgia, USA, recognised as one of the world’s best guitarists. Together their music creates a masterclass in songwriting.
When the pair first joined forces in 2012 their self-titled debut, State of the Union, received great reviews from Q and The Word, Bob Harris (BBC) sang it’s praises and their tour attracted great audiences and feedback. Their new album, Snake Oil, was released in summer 2013.
Boo and Brooks will be supported at The Met by singer-songwriter Yvonne Lyon, who has consistently drawn and stirred audiences across the UK with her emotive performances, having shared the stage with the likes of Patti Griffin, Karine Polwart, Luka Bloom and Steve Forbert and toured with Juliet Turner.
Tickets to see State of the Union are £14. For more information or to book tickets phone 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz.
