Two of the finest young acts in British folk, Jamie Smith’s Mabon and Maz O’Connor, perform a double headline show at The Met on Wednesday 29 January at 8pm.
Last seen at The Met as part of Homegrown festival of English folk in October 2013, Maz O’Connor plays a range of original and traditional material with a contemporary style. She has progressed rapidly up the ranks of young ‘must-see’ performers, having been nominated for a 2013 BBC Radio 2 Folk Award and awarded a BBC / English Folk Dance and Song Society performing arts fellowship.
“A vocal performance that stops you dead in your tracks’ – Fatea
Jamie Smith’s Mabon is a Welsh band renowned for energy and dynamism; freewheeling through a frenzied repertoire of feel-good tunes. Led by talented accordionist Jamie Smith, the band also features Young Scottish Musician of the Year finalist Calum Stewart.
“Top band led by one hell of an accordion player and arranger” – Mike Harding (BBC Radio 2)
Tickets to see the performance are £12. For more information or to book tickets phone 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz.
