Ramsbottom Folk Club presents a free evening of folk for their December Special with a host of local artists; including Thursday’s Child, Seat of the Pants and Chris Rogan, performing at The Grant Arms on Wednesday 11 December at 8pm.
Thursday’s Child is the duo of Ken Punshon and Chris Pyam. The two came together in 2009 to try out a couple of ideas for songs, creating eight in one day. Since then a further sixty or so have emerged and there is no sign of the flow stopping.
Seat of the Pants is a duo that formed spontaneously on stage at a folk venue. Their songs are a mixture of traditional, rousing chorus, and Heather singing unaccompanied.
Sounds of Folk’s Ali O’Brien describes Chris Rogan as “the kind of voice you could just listen to for hours” whilst Folk North West said “a master songwriter and performer”. His songs tell the story of the people and things around him in a very easy, touching style.
Ramsbottom Folk Club is a monthly coming-together of those interested in playing, listening to and chatting about folk. Each event features sessions, sing-a-rounds and guest artists from across the UK.
Entrance to the Ramsbottom Folk Club December Special is free of charge. For further information go online at www.themet.biz or phone 0161 761 2216.
