Bob Dylan expert Michael Gray comes to The Met on Wednesday 20 November at 8pm with Bob Dylan and the History of Rock’n’Roll.
Author of ‘The Bob Dylan Encyclopedia’ and ‘Song & Dance Man III: The Art Of Bob Dylan’, Michael Gray’s events are always lively and spontaneous, witty and acute, using unpredictable slices of loud music to offer a thoroughly entertaining, fresh account of Dylan’s achievement.
In Bob Dylan and the History of Rock’n’Roll, Gray traces how rock’n’roll arrived, how it had disintegrated into safe and shallow pop by the time Dylan was ready to launch his own career, and how it lured him back after his folksinging days. The event then goes on to celebrate Dylan’s crucial role in modernising rock music when he went electric, and highlights some of Dylan’s more recent rocking moments, using great records and rare footage.
Michael Gray has sold-out tours of American college campuses and art centres across the UK, performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and been a keynote speaker at Dylan conferences in Vienna and Bristol.
Tickets for the evening are £10. For more information or to book tickets phone 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz.
