Bury Youth Theatre Gain National Arts Award Qualifications

Members of Bury Youth Theatre have successfully completed Bronze and Silver Arts Award programmes, gaining unique national qualifications in the arts.

Bury Youth Theatre (BYT) is a drama group which meets at The Met in Bury on Wednesday evenings. The group explore creativity through devising, improvising and other performance related activities. Sessions are split into two age groups, 9 – 13 and 14+.

 

Tutored by Proper Job Theatre Company, members of BYT were given the opportunity to explore a chosen art form and produce a portfolio of creative work to be assessed by Arts Award managers at Trinity College London.

 

Bronze Awards have been completed by junior members of BYT, with Silver Arts Awards gained by older members, who also took part in The Met and Proper Job Theatre’s 2012 Christmas production of Pinocchio.

 

The Met and Proper Job Theatre Company’s 2013 Christmas production, The Secret Garden, features the next group of talented young people from Bury, who will take to the stage from Wednesday 11 – Tuesday 24 December.

 

The Arts Award programme is run in partnership with Arts Council England and allows young people to work independently, developing their creativity, leadership and communication skills.
