Smug Roberts returns to First Thursday Comedy Club at The Met

First Thursday Comedy Club at The Met in Bury celebrates it’s Magnificent 7th Anniversary on Thursday 5 September at 8.30pm, featuring Smug Roberts, ‘Dame’ Mandy Knight, Seymour Mace and a special guest host.


Originator of comedy song “Meat Pie, Sausage Roll”, Smug Roberts has been deemed the Godfather of Manchester comedy. Roberts began his career playing at the Frog and Bucket in Manchester and once led the audience from the venue onto the Metrolink to a social club in Bowker Vale. He has since starred in Mrs Brown’s Boys, That Peter Kay Thing, Phoenix Nights, Looking for Eric and much more.


The truly outrageous ‘Dame’ Mandy Knight was the first female comedian to compere at The Comedy Store and has been breaking barriers ever since. As a stand-up she has headlined all over the world as well as appearing on numerous television and radio entertainment shows.


The comedian’s comedian, Seymour Mace starred in three series’ of BBC3’s Ideal. Seymour won Citylife Comedian of the Year in 2003 followed by Best Breakthrough Act at the North West Comedy Award in 2004.
