Some of the UK’s finest young jazz talents come together in The Phil Meadows Group, appearing at The Met on Saturday 29 June at 8pm.
Combining a cocktail of influences, the band features Phil Meadows on saxophone, Laura Jurd on trumpet, Elliot Galvin on piano, Conor Chaplin on double bass and Simon Roth on drums. Their music shows a passion for skilful improvisation, melodic beauty and driving groove – complex, powerful and emotive one minute; thoughtful, delicate and beautiful the next.
Phil Meadows’ is a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Great Britain and was the youngest competitor and only Briton in the final of the European Keep an Eye Jazz Soloist Competition in 2011. His performance credits include Glastonbury Festival and Ronnie Scotts as well as live broadcasts on BBC Radio 3, BBC4 television and the BBC Proms.
