Swashbuckling Cult Classic The Count of Monte Cristo comes to The Met

The Met is pleased to welcome Thunder Road Theatre Company with their adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ The Count of Monte Cristo on Wednesday 29 May at 7pm.

Life is a storm my friend. You will bask in the sun one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes.”

Edmund Dantes is wrongfully imprisoned in the impenetrable fortress Chateau D’if after being betrayed by jealous friend, Fernand. A lifetime of isolation awaits the once proud merchant sailor, but a chance escape quenches Edmund’s thirst for vengeance. The hero is now the villain, and the villain will have his revenge.

Beautifully written and performed. Highly recommended” – The Yorkshire Times

Thunder Road Theatre Company breathe fresh life into adaptations of cult classic novels. Currently working in residency at Harrogate Theatre in North Yorkshire, their debut production, Hyde, received critical acclaim across the board and multiple award nominations.

Thunder Road will also be hosting an Acting Masterclass for anyone studying or working in the arts. Aimed at ages 14+, the masterclass will explore an energetic, stripped back approach to performance as well as providing guidance on the first steps towards creating your own theatre company. The masterclass will run at The Met at 4pm on the day of the performance.
