The Met welcomes new folk trio Vamm on Friday 10 May 8pm with their self-titled debut album.
Vamm is the combination of three of the finest string players – Patsy Reid, Catriona Macdonald and Marit Falt – whose combined experience includes playing in globally respected groups such as Breabach and Blazin’ Fiddles alongside several critically acclaimed Celtic Connections New Voices commissions.
In Vamm the trio weave together melody and harmony creating a rich sound, bursting with texture and groove. The tunes that the trio have recorded on their debut collection are tunes that, while rooted in the Scottish and Scandinavian traditions of the band’s respective backgrounds, have been set free in gorgeous and driving arrangements that dart between old and new, classical and traditional, restful and rousing.
“Their sound still resonates with the fresh delight of discovery, but in all other respects this is already richly-evolved, sumptuously sophisticated music, fuelled by a shared passion and exquisite discernment for beautiful tunes” – Northings.com
Tickets to see Vamm are £12 or £10 for concessions. For further information or to book phone the ticket office on 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz.
