Multi-award winning Chris Wood comes to The Met with new album.

The Met welcomes Chris Wood with his new album, None The Wiser, on Saturday 4 May at 8pm.

Winner of Folk Singer of the Year and Best Original Track at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2011 and Folk Singer of the Year and Best Album previously in 2009, Chris Wood’s love of small things has made him one of England’s most vivid and arresting songwriters.

During autumn 2012 Chris toured with Joan Armatrading, playing 51 cities. He found himself eavesdropping on conversations from pound shops to tea rooms, army recruitment centres to hotel saunas, collecting the poetry of the recession. His response is fourth solo album, None The Wiser.

“He seamlessly knits the spirit of the tradition into his very contemporary parables. And it’s magnificent.”  – fRoots

With humble hymns and sweeping statements from Alzheimers to William Blake, Wood lovingly takes the pulse of his homeland in what could be his best album yet.

Tickets for the performance are £15, £13 for concessions. For more information or to book tickets go online at www.themet.biz or phone Ticket Office on 0161 761 2216.
