The Met is recruiting members of the community this November, to take part in weekly free workshops creating short films to display in the multi purpose arts and music venue.
The project is a celebration of the venue\’s diverse mix of performance and participation and the mix of audiences who visit each year, creating a permanent digital projection of artwork into the windows of the building.
Delivered by Lets Go Global \”All About Us is a partnership delivering creative technology projects across Greater Manchester, inspired by the Olympic tradition of making the games \’everyone\’s games\’ by celebrating community, art, culture and sport.
Part of The Met\’s digital strategy, the project is the first in a three year plan to offer more to visitors to the venue both for engaging workshops and one of the busiest live arts programmes in the country.
David Agnew, Director of The Met comments, \”We\’re really excited by a project which links the people who know and use the venue with our ambitious plans for a 21 century arts centre which embraces digital opportunities and advancements\”
Sarah McLoughlin of Lets Go Global \”Met Digital is part of the All about Us project delivering skill enhancing workshops across great Manchester. Inspired by the Cultural Olympiad programme, the project not only allows people to express how they feel about a cornerstone of their community, but also gives them an exciting opportunity to learn new skills that they can go on to use in their own lives.\”
The workshops will run every Thursday evening from 7 to 9pm from 3 November, with a final session on Thursday 8 December showcasing completed work. To register your interest please give the box office a call on 0161 761 2216.
