John McSherry Trio Perform at The Met as part of Bury Light Night

The Met welcomes John McSherry Trio as part of Bury Light Night on Friday 14 October at 8pm.

John is an outstanding and internationally celebrated uilleann piper and whistle player. He is hailed as one of the finest exponents of the art of uilleann piping in the world today – \’a true master\’ – Irish Music Magazine .

Winner of two All Ireland Championships and the prestigious Oireachtas piping competition, he has toured the world as both a solo performer and a member of several outstanding bands – Tamalin, Lunasa and Coolfin. He is a composer, producer, arranger and established studio session musician of world class renown, recording and performing with everybody from Clannad and Donal Lunny to Nancy Griffiths and The Corrs.

Performing with him is the celebrated fiddler Gerry O\’Connor and renowned singer Eithne Ni Uallachain and Donal O\’Connor.

John McSherry Trio is performing as part of Bury Light Night. For one night only (Friday 14 October 2011) Bury town centre will stay up late to allow explorers of all ages time to enjoy a whole host of special events and activities including performances, lighting installations, walking tours, workshops, late night shopping and more across a great mix of venues and attractions.
