The Met welcomes My Sweet Patootie on Saturday 1 October at 8pm.
Terry Young and Sandra Swannell embrace a forgotten brand of showmanship playing clever, original songs that have elements of western swing and old-timey music. Their new album, Nowheresville includes elements of Americana, but they mix it up with jazz, gypsy, swing and chirpy, semi-humorous wordplay.
Sandra Swannell\’s rich alto voice has been described as \”hot buttered rum\”. She is a classically trained violinist/ violist, but her style owes much more to Folk, Jazz and Blues.
Terry Young is a classically trained tenor. Her dexterity and aggressive approach to finger-style guitar has been described as \”virtuosic\” by BBC critic James Harrox, and \”jaw dropping\” by Folk & Music Exchange. During his years with Tanglefoot Terry gained a reputation as a talented multi-instrumentalist, performing on banjo, mandolin, whistles and guitar.
As My Sweet Patootie Terry and Sandra have been forging a solid reputation for delivering polished, completely entertaining and memorable live concerts. \”The duo are forever spot-on: the Hot-Club-style ambience of their playing is both highly persuasive and very attractive, and as if that weren\’t enough both singers are darned brilliant.\” (NetRhythms UK)
Tickets are £10, £8 concessions. For more information and to book phone The Met on 0161 761 2216 or go online at www.themet.biz.
