Famous Folk, Scary Theatre and Hilarious Comedians in The Met\’s New Season

The Met\’s new season is now on sale and features some of the finest musicians, comedians and performers around.

Starting on the 1 September with Dave Swarbrick and Martin Carthy, the season also features newcomers Jonny Kearney and Lucy Farrell (22 September); the largest collection of famous folk names in All Along the Wall (23 September); Met favourites Heidi Talbot (1 October) and Eliza Carthy (22 October); and cross over bands Moishe\’s Bagel (30 October) and Salsa Celtica (25 November).

The comedy line up features Jason Byrne (15 September); Justin Moorhouse (6 October) and the return of Tom Stade (2 Nov) as well as out monthly, ever popular comedy club.

Theatre features a mixture of horror and classic stories starting with F Scott Fitzgerald\’s Great Gatsby performed by Proper Job (21 September); the life of Sir Alec Guinness in Two Halves of Guinness (5 October); the terrifying tale of Frankenstein performed by the inventive and usually stunning Proteus (29 Oct) and get to know the real story of the Brothers Grimm in Grimm and Grimmer (30 Nov)

David Ford returns as a solo artist (24 September); 80s hit makers Love and Money start their UK tour at The Met on 26/27 September; Hot Club of Cow Town return (4 Nov); and Glen Tilbrook returns on 3 December.

We\’ve got some fantastic shows for kids including Hairy Maclary (2 September); Hansel and Gretel (8 October); a dance version of the Selfish Giant (25 October) and the ever popular Stickman returns on 12 November.

The Met is excited to be one of the partners in the first ever Ramsbotom Festival in September (16-18) featuring The Waterboys, Guillemots, Badly Drawn Boy, Cherry Ghost, The Animals and Steve Cropper from Stax Records as well as many more! The Beer Festival returns bigger and better than ever this year on 18 and 19 November with beers from local and independent breweries as well as delicious food and great music.

Finally, our Christmas show for this year is Scrooge: A Christmas Carol running from 12 to 24 December. Performed by Proper Job Theatre Company, who were responsible for the sell out sow last year, the Christmas show promises to be a great success and a perfect way to get the family in the festive spirit.
