The Met welcomes the Why and Wherefores featuring Emily Druce and Steve Jones on Thursday 9 June at 8pm.
The Why and Wherefores is a dynamic five piece band swinging all the way from roots to rockabilly. Influences range from Hank Williams and Billie Holiday to Tom Waits, Dylan and The Velvet Underground. Their live sets mainly consist of original material, but are studded with choice covers, and are notable for weaving together a range of styles.
The band was formed at the end of 2006 by the duo, Druce and Jones. After the release of their highly acclaimed album, Songs from the Silver Band Room, Druce and Jones have played live sessions for Paul Jones on BBC Radio 2 and Woman\’s Hour on Radio 4.
They have also toured extensively, performing at a range of venues and festivals including Dingwalls, The Borderline, The Great British R&B Festival, The Ullapool Guitar Festival, Bushy\’s Big Wheel Blues Festival and Sidmouth Festival.
