The Good Lovelies bring their sunny three part harmonies to the Grants Arms in Ramsbottom on Wednesday 25 May at 8pm.
In the vein of popular Canadian girl groups such as the Be Good Tanyas and Wailin\’ Jennys, the Good Lovlies are upbeat with a pinch of sass. Made up of Caroline Brooks, Kerri Ough and Sue Passmore, the band\’s constant instrument swapping and witty on-stage banter have enlivened the folk music world since they joined forces in 2006 for their first show at Toronto\’s funky Gladstone Hotel.
Let the Rain Fall, released this week, is their third full-length album and an ode to camaraderie. The band\’s good humour and self-assurance shines through, from the toe-tapping start of Made for Rain to the sweet final notes in the French-flecked Mrs. T. In between, you\’ll hear reflections on urban imperfections with Backyard and upbeat numbers like Kiss Me in the Kitchen.
Their tireless rain or shine outlook and undeniable mutual respect have helped the trio weather years of constant touring. Let The Rain Fall, say the Good Lovelies, confident that bright and breezy days lie ahead.
The show is promoted by The Met, Bury\’s live arts venue. Tickets for the show are £8 advance or £10 on the door. For more information or to buy tickets call the ticket office on 0161 7612216 or go to www.themet.biz
