The Met welcomes award winning artist Cara Dillon on Saturday 4 June 8pm.
Cara is one of the most highly acclaimed folk singers. Her first solo album was one of the top selling traditional music releases of 2001, winning her widespread acclaim and two BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards (Best traditional track and Best Newcomer).
Writing with husband and fellow band member, Sam Lakeman, Cara performs traditional Irish and English folk songs in beautiful modern arrangements which make these ancient songs seem as contemporary as the latest pop hit.
Her previous album, After the Morning, was voted Best Celtic Album 2006 by The Indie Acoustic project. It features guest appearances by Martin Simpson and two of Ireland\’s finest traditional musicians Martin O\’Connor and Cathal Hayden. Her most recent album, Hill Of Thieves, reached number 7 in the UK indie charts and was named album of the Year at the BBC Radio 2 Awards last year.
…Dillon is a singer of uncommon integrity\” Hot Press
Cara released a live DVD, Live at The Grand Opera House, last year to stunning reviews.
\”…her voice is a thing of wonder: a warm yet precise tool that locks into the expansive humanity at the heart of these ancient songs. In taking a step back to her roots, Dillon has made a creative great leap forward.\” The Guardian
