The Met welcomes leading Theatre Company Trestle in an inspirational one woman show, The Birthday of The Infanta on Wednesday 30 March at 7.30pm.
Adults and young people alike are invited by the Infanta, the Spanish princess, to her twelfth Birthday party. This is the only day of the year she is allowed to play with other children, but mixing with those not of her own rank comes at a price.
Adapted from the bittersweet story by Oscar Wilde and performed in Trestle\’s distinctive physical storytelling style, The Birthday of the Infanta tells of the events arranged to entertain the princess, culminating in a performance by an ugly boy. The show looks at how their meeting affects both their lives forever, capturing a transitional moment of choice when the heart could melt or freeze.
Drawing on the passion and rhythms of Spain, Trestle Unmasked unifies movement, music and text to take you on a compelling journey, through the constraints of social hierarchies to the price paid for love. Don\’t miss your chance to see this innovative, passionate and magical re-telling of Wilde\’s proclaimed fairytale. Please note that this is a Trestle Unmasked production.
Suitable for everyone aged 9 and up. Runtime is approx 90 mins (including interval). Tickets for the show are £10, £6 concessions. To book tickets for this event please call the ticket office on 0161 761 2216 or go on line www.themet.biz
