1920s Harlem is brought to life with 52 Skidoo

Swing band 52 Skidoo return to The Met with a tribute to Fats Waller on Friday 1 April at 8pm.

This three piece Harlem style swing band have turned back the clock to play a dazzling set of vintage American music in the style for which it was written.

Classic favourites like Ain\’t Misbehavin\’, The Joint is Jumpin\’ and Your Feet\’s Too Big are carefully woven into well know hits like Darktown Strutters Ball, Jeepers Creepers and I Ain\’t Got Nobody to create an authentic 1920/30\’s Harlem party atmosphere. They bring back to life the forgotten era of prohibition, speakeasy\’s, Vaudeville, tin pan alley, rent parties, stride piano and hot jazz.

Fats Waller was a skilled pianist, and master of stride piano who played in the 20s and 30s. He was also a prolific songwriter, and many songs he wrote or co-wrote are still popular.
Tickets are £10, £8 concessions. To book tickets for this event please call the ticket office on 0161 761 2216 or go on line www.themet.biz
