Bury music lovers are in for a treat when ahab, a young band tipped for the top by Bob Harris, play The Met on Friday 11 February at 8.30pm.
The Met concert will follow ahab\’s session on Harris\’s BBC Radio 2 show which will be broadcast on 6 February.
The London-based group\’s uniquely British take on country rock is based around stunning four-part vocal harmony. The members are also talented songwriters and the Bury concert will feature their original compositions.
Harris is a big fan of the band having seen them last year at Fairport Convention\’s annual music festival in Cropredy, Oxfordshire. \”I thought their live set was blistering,\” he says. \”They showed real class and I love their alt-country edge.\” He is not the only BBC presenter to sing ahab\’s praises; Radio 2\’s Simon Mayo says: \”This band\’s top-notch British Americana is the real deal.\”
ahab features Callum Adamson on 12-string guitar and vocals, Luke Price on mandolin and vocals, Dave Burn on guitar and vocals and Steve Llewellyn on bass and vocals.
The current ahab tour also coincides with their second download single release, Lucy. Composed by the band, the track was recorded and mixed by legendary producer John Leckie who has worked with Stone Roses, Radiohead, Muse, and Bellowhead among others.
Tickets are £8 or £10 on the door. To book tickets for ahab \’s Bury concert, ring The Met box office on 0161 761 2216 or go on line at www.themet.biz
