A Mr Kite Benefit
We're welcoming The Secret Sisters to The Met for the first time to offer up the sort of harmonising that only siblings like Laura and Lydia Rogers can achieve.
They are appearing in support of their third album, produced by Brandi Carlile, You Don't Own Me Anymore. The title itself hints at the biting and beautiful nature of this record for their new label, New West.
They made a promising start to their career with plaudits from all directions and opening spots with Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and Paul Simon. After this, they had some difficulties which have caused them to return with a focus on the heart of their talent as they get back on track with the new record.
Rather than covering the songs of others, You Don't Own Me Anymore is focussed on their own significant songwriting talents. Summed up best when Laura says "We are more proud of these songs than we have ever been. Some of the songs are a little more cryptic, but some of them are very pointed and honest and direct. And we had to let those songs happen. We had to let ourselves be angry again, and bring up things we wanted to forget."
Prepare yourself for a night of great harmony and song.
