In Aid of a Better Met
Come and support A Better Met with 24 hours of singing, music and even a little bit of dancing.
One of our fundraising events will be a 24-hour music session starting at 2pm on Saturday 21 March and ending at 2pm on Sunday 22 March. The event will take place in Malt bar and will involve folk musicians and supporters from all over the North West providing entertainment for 24 hours with no more than 3 minutes between turns.
You can drop in, listen to the music and make a donation to the Better Met Fund.
The Met is a much-loved venue, but our 165 year-old building is starting to show its age. We want to refurbish and improve the building, to create an exciting and vibrant space for you and for artists, while retaining The Met's unique character.
We're calling this project A Better Met, and for the past three years we've been working hard behind-the-scenes to make it happen. Transforming the building will cost £4.6 million, of which we've already raised £4.1 million. We just need your help to find the final £500,000.
2.30pm - Findlay Napier
5.30pm - The Bailey Sisters
8.30pm Bryony Griffiths and Will Hampson
Artists also appearing include: Nicola Beazley, Oakenhoof Cloggers, Karina Knight, Gareth Scott and Shanty Hour
Would you like to perform at our 24 hour folk-a-thon? Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject heading '24 hour folk-a-thon' and a couple of lines about who you are and what you play, what times you would be available and, if you have it, a link to your work and we'll be in touch. For a 20 minute slot we would ask for a £10 donation to The Better Met Fund.
